Professionally, Mr. Ray had a distinguished career with the United Nations organization for 27 years before his retirement in 2007. At the time of his retirement, he was Senior Advisor to ...the Undersecretary-General and Executive Director of UN-HABITAT. Today, in retrospect, it seems as though he was placed in the position by Divine Providence.

Mr. Ray currently serves as a member of the International Jury for the Rafik Hariri UN-Habitat Memorial Award, instituted by the United Nations to reward individuals and organizations working to build leadership, statesmanship and good governance.
